Things Fall Apart – WebQuest
What Does it Mean to be Civilized?

Things Fall Apart was published in 1958, but its message is still relevant in today’s world. Achebe depicts an Ibo village and the disastrous consequences when one society imposes its beliefs on another. The lessons from this experience are critical in addressing this project’s essential questions: What does it mean to be civilized? Have “we” really changed?

Introduction:

The **National Geographic Society** was founded in the USA on January 27, 1888, by 33 men interested in "organizing a society for the increase and diffusion of geographical knowledge." Since then, this organization has added a variety of persons to help them accomplish their goal. Recently, you and your group members were contacted by the society and asked to take jobs as researchers for the National Geographic magazine. Having decided to accept this employment, you have just been assigned to work together on the magazine's expose for next month's edition - Nigeria.
